GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. — Dollar General Corp. today reported fiscal fourth-quarter profit of $597.4 million.
On a per-share basis, the company said it had net income of $2.57.
The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 24 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $2.56 per share.
The discount retailer posted revenue of $8.65 billion in the period, falling short of Street forecasts. Twenty-three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $8.69 billion.
For the year, the company reported profit of $2.4 billion, or $10.17 per share. Revenue was reported as $34.22 billion.
