ACHIEVEMENTS: Daniel Deutmeyer, Scott Neyens and Nicholas Specht were each re-elected to three-year terms to the board of directors.

APPOINTED: Dave Johnson as building services manager. Johnson had served as acting building services manager since January following the departure of the former manager, Todd Carr, in July. Johnson will manage the enforcement of city building, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and property maintenance codes and ordinances, as well as supervise the city custodial staff. The 12-member department is also responsible for the review and inspection of building construction projects within the city.

ACHIEVEMENT: Anthony Maginity, civil design engineer, completed the training requirements to become an Iowa Certified SWPPP Designer through the Iowa Stormwater Education Partnership. The certification program covers all facets of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans design. He is experienced in civil site design and land development including site layouts; grading and design of utilities associated with residential subdivisions, commercial, and industrial developments; and site improvements.

Four local architects and design professionals were recognized for their service to the community.
ACHIEVEMENT: Benjamin Beard, of Straka Johnson Architects in Dubuque, serves as assistant chairman for Building Code Board of Appeals. He provides guidance and insight to conversation regarding alleged building code violations.
ACHIEVEMENT: Kevin Eipperle, of FEH DESIGN in Dubuque, serves as governance and nominations committee chairman and board member for the Foundation for Dubuque’s Public Schools. The foundation identifies and gathers funding for efforts outside of the public-school district’s regular budget.
ACHIEVEMENT: Emily Hilgendorf, of FEH DESIGN in Dubuque, was appointed chairman for the City of Dubuque Historic Preservation Commission. The commission educates the public about the benefits and process of preserving historic properties, making recommendations to the City Council for design compliance with the adopted guidelines, as well as recognizing property owners for their high achieving design and care for their historic structures.
ACHIEVEMENT: Christina Monk, of FEH DESIGN in Dubuque, was appointed to the City of Dubuque Historic Preservation Commission as the architect member. The commission conducts education programming on historic properties within its jurisdiction.
