Backpocket Brewing to emulate Dubuque taproom in new location in Johnston

Dubuque’s Backpocket Brewing will open a new taproom this fall in Johnston, Iowa, featuring beers brewed at the original Coralville, Iowa, brewery as well as a full food menu.

The venue, known as Backpocket Pin and Pixel will include both a Duckpin Bowling alley and a retro arcade in the Johnston Town Center.

This marks the second satellite taproom for Backpocket, with the first located in Dubuque’s Millwork District. “In many ways the Pin and Pixel is modeled after the Dubuque taproom, with a similar arcade, event room and menu,” said Backpocket founder Jacob Simmons. “However we are diversifying our entertainment options with the addition of Duckpin Bowling and expanding the menu into a full restaurant”.

Duckpin Bowling a bar-friendly format of traditional bowling with shorter lanes, fatter pins and lighter balls.

Backpocket has been in the craft beer business since 2012, distributing beer at stores, restaurants and bars across Iowa.
