CAMDEN, N.J. — Campbell Soup Co. today reported fiscal fourth-quarter earnings of $288 million.
The company said it had profit of 95 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, came to 55 cents per share.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 47 cents per share.
The maker of canned soup, Pepperidge Farm cookies and V8 juice posted revenue of $1.87 billion in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.82 billion.
For the year, the company reported profit of $1 billion, or $3.29 per share. Revenue was reported as $8.48 billion.
Campbell expects full-year earnings in the range of $2.75 to $2.85 per share.
Campbell shares have decreased 14% since the beginning of the year, while the S&P’s 500 index has increased 20%. The stock has fallen 21% in the past 12 months.
