Dubuque to offer morning flights to Chicago, possible Denver connection

Fliers will soon have the option to depart Dubuque Regional Airport for Chicago before lunchtime on some days.

Officials with the city of Dubuque and Denver Air Connection announced today that the air service provider expects to begin providing morning flights to Chicago. The start date for those flights is not yet determined. According to a press release, the airline would swap some of its current daily afternoon departures for morning takeoffs two or three days per week.

Details about the schedule shift are being finalized, officials said.

“Since we restarted daily flights to O’Hare three months ago, we have consistently heard requests from business and leisure travelers asking for a morning flight,” said Dubuque Mayor Brad Cavanagh, who also chairs the board of DBQ Air, a nonprofit organization dedicated to recruiting and retaining air service. “I couldn’t be more excited and thankful that Denver Air Connection is responding to these requests so quickly.”

A Denver Air official also said the airline is considering using Dubuque Regional Airport as a connector between Chicago and Denver, which would add the Colorado city as a second destination for Dubuque travelers.
