A local credit union is closing its Asbury, Iowa, branch.
Dupaco Community Credit Union is set to close its Asbury location at 5865 Saratoga Road on Oct. 1, according to a news release. The closure was prompted by low traffic at the location, as well as the relative “overabundance” of tri-state area locations.
The Asbury location is one of six full-service Dupaco branches in the Dubuque/Asbury area.
“The relatively few members who frequent the Asbury branch already can access similar services at a Dupaco full-service branch at Pennsylvania Avenue and Northwest Arterial — a short five-minutes drive away,” Dupaco President/CEO Joe Hearn said in the release.
Current Asbury branch employees will be relocated to other Dupaco locations, the release states, and the closure will result in “no direct reduction” in credit union staff. After the October closure, the Saratoga building will be sold.
