Parent company of Dubuque casino reports strong quarter

The parent company of Dubuque’s Diamond Jo Casino reported strong earnings in its recently completed quarter.

Las Vegas-based Boyd Gaming reported total revenue of $860.7 million in the quarter that ended March 31 in an earnings report released Tuesday. That is 14.3% higher than the same quarter in 2021, when Boyd had $753.3 million in revenue.

The uptick even surpassed some pre-pandemic numbers for Boyd. In the first quarter of 2019, the company reported revenue of $827.3 million.

Boyd also reported net income of $162.9 million for the first quarter of 2022, compared to $102.2 million for the first quarter last year.

The company’s Midwest and South segment, which includes the Dubuque casino, had quarterly revenue of nearly $584 million, an increase from $549 million in the first quarter of 2021.
