EAST DUBUQUE, Ill. — The parent company of an East Dubuque nitrogen fertilizer facility reported a net loss of $20 million on net sales of $156 million for the third quarter of 2022.
CVR Partners this week reported that the loss compared to net income of $35 million on net sales of $145 million for the third quarter of 2021.
CEO Mark Pytosh said in a press release that the firm “successfully completed turnarounds at both of its nitrogen fertilizer production facilities” during the quarter to address issues that had affected plant reliability. The firm has fertilizer plants in East Dubuque and Coffeyville, Kan. A plant turnaround is a scheduled stoppage of part of all of a plant’s operations, typically for maintenance or to replace equipment.
“As a result, we are now posting record operating rates at both plants,” Pytosh said.
CVR Partners’ fertilizer facilities produced a combined 114,000 tons of ammonia during the third quarter of 2022.
