A local casino was able to buck a statewide trend last month to see a year-over-year increase in gaming revenue.
Q Casino + Resort generated $3,643,150 in gaming revenue in October, according to recently released figures from the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission. That’s up 11.7% from the $3,262,628 generated in October 2023.
The increase is considerable given the fact that gaming revenue at casinos statewide was down 2.3% last month compared to the same period last year.
“October was a very good month for us,” said Q Casino + Resort Chief Operating and Finance Officer Brian Rakestraw. “We saw positive increases in net income and net cash flows when compared to October of last year.”
For its part, Diamond Jo Casino reported a decrease last month — collecting $6,099,438 in gaming revenue. In October of 2023, the casino netted $6,628,741.
The city of Dubuque consequently received approximately $548,000 in its October monthly distribution from the DRA, the nonprofit license holder for Dubuque’s two casinos.
