Unemployment rates down in local counties compared to 1 year ago

Unemployment rates in tri-state-area counties fell in February compared to one year earlier, according to recently released data.

Dubuque County’s unemployment rate was 3.9% in February, down from 4.8% in January and from 5.5% in February 2021, according to Iowa Workforce Development.

Elsewhere in Iowa, Clayton County had an unemployment rate of 7.2% in February, down from 7.8% one year earlier. The rate in Delaware County was 3.2%, down from 4.8% in February 2021. Jackson County’s rate was 4.7%, down from 6.8%. Jones County’s rate was 4.9%, down from 6.4%.

Statewide, Iowa’s seasonally, adjusted unemployment rate was 3.5% in February, down from 3.7% in January and 4.4% in February 2021.

In Wisconsin, Crawford County’s unemployment rate was 5.3% in February, down from 6.8% in February 2021. Grant County’s rate was 3.2%, down from 4.2% a year earlier. Iowa County’s rate was 3.6%, down from 5.1%. Lafayette County’s rate was 2.9%, down from 4%.

Statewide, Wisconsin’s unemployment rate was 2.9% in February, down from 4.4% in February 2021.

In Illinois, Jo Daviess County saw an unemployment rate of 4.7% in February, down from 6.8% in February 2021.

Statewide, Illinois’ unemployment rate was 4.8% in February, down from 6.9% a year prior.
