A Dubuque-based business is in the midst of a large-scale layoff at a Georgia manufacturing plant.
Flexsteel Industries Inc. recently completed the second phase of layoffs in its phased approach to the closure of its manufacturing facility in Dublin, Ga. The layoff will affect a total of 154 workers, according to a notice filed in Georgia.
The closure was announced at the company’s most recent earnings call as part of “manufacturing network optimization” plan to streamline inventory and manufacturing efforts while minimizing lead times, a press release states.
Full closure of the facility is expected to occur by the end of the company’s fourth fiscal quarter. As part of the transition, the company expects to incur pre-tax restructuring and related expenses between $2.5 million and $3.2 million.
Once the closure is completed, the company expects annual savings between $4 million and $4.5 million. The facility — which supports less than 5% of Flexsteel’s annual sales — will be listed for sale upon closure.
