Dubuque-based credit union changing its name

A Dubuque-based credit union is changing its name.

Alliant Credit Union will become AIM Credit Union effective Jan. 1.

A press release states that name is being changed to reflect the credit union’s growth and to avoid confusion with Chicago-based Alliant Credit Union, which was known as United Airlines Credit Union until 2003.

Interstate Employees Credit Union changed its name to Alliant Credit Union in 1999 to align with utility company mergers and the change of name from Interstate Power to Alliant Energy.

Since its inception 89 years ago, the Dubuque credit union’s membership has expanded to more than 50 employee groups.

The name change will not affect the credit union’s members, according to the release.
