Lancaster council OKs 3-year contract for theater

LANCASTER, Wis. — Lancaster Common Council members recently unanimously approved a three-year contract with State Theatres to operate Grantland Theater in Lancaster City Hall.

The contract calls for State Theatres to pay the city $6,000 per year. It is retroactive to April 1 and runs through March 31, 2025.

City Administrator David Carlson wasn’t looking for a contract extension when he brought up the State Theatres’ contract in March. State Theatres officials had asked if an equipment repair fund requirement could be removed from the current contract.

Instead of changing the current contract, the council decided to offer State Theatres a three-year deal because it is providing a “great service to the community.”

The contract also removes the $500 equipment repair fund requirement.
