BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Hibbett Sports Inc. today reported fiscal second-quarter net income of $40.4 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

The Birmingham, Alabama-based company said it had profit of $2.38 per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs and costs related to mergers and acquisitions, came to $2.95 per share.

The sporting goods retailer posted revenue of $441.6 million in the period.

Hibbett shares have risen slightly more than 7% since the beginning of the year. The stock has risen 81% in the past 12 months.
